The title misleads you... this is a yoga book April 9, 2008 Rebecca K. Holmes (Azusa, CA) Ok so I picked up this book thinking it dealt with teacher stress and how to better deal with the stresses I faced in teaching. The book does overview stress a bit and gives general principles for stress managements, but it was obviously not written from a teacher perspective, nor does it give any specific situations and how to handle them better. Instead, it basically points out what is stress, what its symptoms are, how teachers have a stressful job, and that you should do physical exercises. In fact, the majority of the book is about doing yoga. The book did not give me any aids in managing my stresses at work or how to reduce the stress I face... some questions helped me to think about things, but not enough to make the book worth it. The book can be summarized in these statements: Teachers have an incredibly stressful job and that stress will harm your body. Therefore, you should do yoga. Overall, I was very disappointed, because I wanted something more applicable. I would only recommend that you buy this book if you want the yoga exercises because it explains each in detail, with photo images, and those are readily applicable to being done in the classroom by teachers.
